Performing Arts

In Performing Arts, we have a Composer of the Month that we get to know all about!  A composer is a person who writes music!

Our composer of the Month for February is Ludwig Van Beethoven.

Beethoven was born all the way back in 1770 in Germany.  He was a musician in the Classical and Romantic periods.  Beethoven is considered to be a brilliant composer and pianist, even as he became deaf in the later years of his life.  In fact, he composed some of his best work after he had total hearing loss! Wow – that is very impressive.

Some of his music that we have listened to in class include Symphony No. 5, Fur Elise and Moonlight Sonata.

Beethoven died in Vienna, on March 26th, 1827 at the age of 56
