Open Minded Portraits

In Grade 4 we love reading! We are learning to respond to texts in different ways including making visualizing and summarizing. One of the Reading Responses we are learning to do is creating an Open Minded Portrait. This is where we create a picture of a character from our book and put ourselves in their place, imagining their thoughts at a point in the story.

These Open Minded Portraits we created followed on from reading The Little Refugee by Anh Do. Some students wrote from the point of view of Anh, some from his mother and some from the pirates who raided their boat. It was very interesting to write about what each of these characters was thinking.

We are looking forward to seeing many more Open Minded Portraits from the Grade 4 students.
