A warm welcome back to school to all TVPS families for Term 4! It promises to be a busy Term – ICAS Academic Awards Night, swimming for Foundation & Grade 1 Levels, the Division & Regional Athletics Championships, Foundation Orientation, Grade 2 Sleep-over, Sweet Valley High, School Disco, Grade 6 Graduation [‘Valleydictory’] – just for starters! A number of students ventured overseas, interstate or to the snow during the holidays, which was exciting! We hope that everyone had a restful break and took advantage of the opportunity to catch up with family and friends!

Mrs Koehn has been conducting the Archibald Prize art competition this Term. The students in Grades 5&6 have been drawing portraits of famous Australians including Banjo Paterson, Sir Donald Bradman, Hugh Jackman, Kylie Minogue and Dustin Martin! The competition has created a great deal of interest amongst the school community. All grades have viewed the portraits displayed in the Level 4 Building. The final judging is yet to be completed. However, the ‘Packing Room’ Prizes have been presented at Assembly to Alexander D [6B], for his painting of Brett Whiteley and Celina U [5B], for her portraiture of Delta Goodrem. Special thanks and congratulations to Mrs Koehn for organizing this wonderful competition.

The fourth working bee for the year will be held this Saturday, October 20th, commencing at 9am. There will be a lot of weeding, pruning, sweeping and spout clearing to be done. In addition, there is a large pile of mulch at the Airds Road entrance to the school that needs to be distributed. If families are able to attend, even for an hour, it would be most appreciated. Morning tea refreshments and a barbecue luncheon will be provided.
Bye for now,
