As part of our Transition Program, students from Years 5 and 6 have been participating in ‘Sweet Valley High’ this week.
During Sweet Valley High, students attend a number of different classes run by the Level 4 teachers. This year’s subjects are English, Mathematics, History/Geography, Food Technology, and STEM. Students still attend all of their regular specialist lessons, including PE, Performing Arts, Art and Science.
Students have been allocated into mixed grades and given an individual timetable, which they are expected to read and use to attend their classes at the correct time and place.
The purpose of this program is to encourage organisation and responsibility, as well as a sense of independence for each individual student. We hope that through this program, students will be more comfortable and confident in reading a high school timetable, as well as managing their time and property effectively.
Teachers and students are having a wonderful time and we all agree that Sweet Valley High is a real highlight of the year!
