Last Thursday, the Grade 3 students were delighted to take part in the ‘Day and Night’ incursion. The students thoroughly enjoyed the interactive science session, which modeled the movement of the sun, earth and moon. The giant discovery dome was set up in the hall and was led by a highly experienced scientist.
The night sky was displayed over the ceiling of the dome. Students were engaged by the digital projections and animations that included a tour of the night sky: stars, planets and major constellations. The incursion enriched the ‘Day and Night’ science inquiry unit that the Grade 3 students have been exploring this term. It was wonderful to see the student’s excitement within the dome, as well as to hear their reflections and positive feedback about the experience.
