Marshmallow Challenge

We have had a fun few weeks in Grade 2 participating in rotational STEM activities, STEM standing for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Each week the Grade 2 students have enjoyed experimenting and learning something new about each topic. The engineering challenged involved marshmallows and spaghetti noodles, called ‘The Marshmallow Structure’! The goal of the challenge was to see which group could construct the tallest free standing structure possible using small marshmallows and spaghetti noodles with a big marshmallow on top! Wow…… there have been some wonderful structures created! Some follow up questions students had to think about were; What was the best idea you came up with in the challenge? What was the most difficult part about the challenge? What did you learn about construction and engineering? Some great questions to think about!!!! Well done Grade 2 students!
