The Active Travel School Program

At Templestowe Valley Primary School we encourage students to walk, ride or scoot to school in order to promote independent activity and healthy lifestyles. Studies shows that students who arrive at school having participated in some sort of physical activity in the morning are more likely to be ready for the day and have a higher level of concentration.

The Active Travel School Program provides fitness, encourages a healthy lifestyle and increases students local safety knowledge. School parking is becoming more and more congested so parking further away from the school and teaching your child to walk safely to school can make drop off and pick up times less stressful for all involved.

We are currently investigating the local area to find several places where it is safe for drivers to drop off their children and walk safely to school along a designated path. The more students that meet at the walking points, the more populated those routes will become.
